Rosie Hunter, Owner & Artist

Hi, beauty lovers!

It’s me, Rosie Hunter, your Fairy Godmother of Glam! Thank you for stopping by. I’m so glad you found me and my artistry, and I can’t wait to work with you soon!

I have been in the professional cosmetics industry for more than 16 years and a freelance artist for 12 years. After wearing many hats working for Sephora, LUSH, and Nordstrom, in 2015 Rosie Hunter Artistry was launched after my family and I relocated with the Navy to Japan for 2.5 years.

Upon relocating to Chicagoland in 2018, I connected with top bridal agencies and was made a lead artist on an award-winning bridal team. In 2020 my family and I purchased our first home and we decided to put down roots…and I decided to go “all-in” on the business I started in Japan. That year I became a formal SCorporation, and in 2021 I left the team and invested 100% in Rosie Hunter Artistry. Throughout my time in Illinois I have established myself as a trusted beauty authority. I have helped 250 brides on their magical day, as well as countless bridesmaids and family members. In 2022 I became a vendor with Wish Upon A Wedding, an amazing Chicago-based non-profit organization that grants weddings and vow renewals to couples facing life-altering health circumstances. It is truly humbling and magical to be able to give back in this capacity.

Another area of makeup I specialize in is Boudoir Beauty, and I am incredibly fortunate to be the Lead Artist at both Chicago Boudoir Photography in Winnetka, Illinois and Sarah Jane Boudoir in Wauconda, Illinois. I additionally work with some of the top photographers in Chicagoland getting clients photo-ready for headshot, personal branding, on-set, commercial, and family photography. Additionally I offer private & group beauty lessons, either in person, virtual, and/or personal shopping trips. I LOVE empowering women with the knowledge & tools to create their own ideal beauty rituals.

I am an expert at makeup for both natural and studio lighting. I am equally confident doing “no-makeup-makeup” as I am a fully-glam beat. Bring me your beauty inspiration and I will make it happen in the most gorgeous way for you.

My Beauty Philosophy

When you think about your wedding day, or a special upcoming event, often times a million little details can flood your brain and make you wonder even where to begin when it comes to finding the right beauty vendor. I consider it an honor, a privilege, and an absolute joy to work with all my clients!

When you trust me to help bring your beauty vision to life for your special day, please know you’re partnering with someone who:

🌟 Doesn’t believe in rules when it comes to beauty.

I believe in looking timeless, powerful, and gorgeous – in whatever way those words speak to you. I believe beauty comes in all ages, races, genders, and walks of life. I believe in the transformative power of makeup–not only the physical transformation, but the inner as well. Every person has something uniquely beautiful about them, and it is a privilege to help tap into that beauty and make it shine.

🌟Celebrates diversity and inclusivity. Hate has NO home here.

🌟Notices the little things and celebrates the details that can often be missed by others.

🌟Can collaborate with you and help you expertly navigate the endless beauty possibilities to discover what is perfect for you.

🌟Prides themselves on their consistency and who is always striving for perfection with every single client.

🌟Has a portfolio of work that represents and celebrates breadth and depth across diverse ages, skin tones, skin types, and beauty goals.

My Family Life

I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 17 years and we’ve been together for 21! I am a proud military spouse (my husband plays Tuba in the Navy Band) and Mom to two wonderful, smart, and sassy kids, Stella (12) & Henry (9). When I’m not working I guarantee you can find me at a dance recital/theatre rehearsal/band concert/baseball field/basketball court! #momlife

I am an avid runner, half marathoner, home baker (I will literally find any excuse to bake), and lover of all things chocolate.  My family and I reside in Mundelein, Illinois with my wonderful Mom, and our rescue Lily the Pup (the sweetest 8 year old silky terrier you ever did see)!

Additional Education & Experience

I hold a Bachelors of Music degree with a concentration in Musical Theater from the University of Southern Maine. While in college I enrolled in stage makeup courses where I was taught how to imagine and create effective stage artistry concepts, basic special effects, and era-appropriate hair styling. After graduation I attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City for further studies.

I am proudly represented by BMG Talent in Chicago. I am a member of the professional actors union Actors’ Equity, and have performed in 8 professional shows and over 25 fully staged productions, including at the Tony Award Winning Huntington Theatre in Boston, MA. I have performed as a pops soloist for 3 separate orchestras, and as a vocal soloist for chorale and master classes on numerous occasions.

I am currently the Choir Director at Carl Sandburg Middle School in Mundelein (where my daughter is a 7th grader), as well as Vocal Director for their fully staged musicals! I am also the owner of Spotlight Vocal Studio where I offer private voice lessons to students at Mundelein High School.

My experience in the entertainment industry gives me a unique perspective and insight into varied beauty applications, techniques, and creating perfection under pressure.
