Bridal Beauty Prep Guide
The big day is right around the corner! All your hopes and dreams are about to come true, and I cannot wait to be a part of your magical day. Please read the following guide and share it with your attendants. By following these simple steps during the week of the wedding, you can ease any beauty related stress and ensure a gorgeous day! I cannot wait to see you soon!
1 WEEK BEFORE THE WEDDING
• Drink LOTS of water
• No facials or peels.
• No new face masks.
• Do not pick at your skin or any blemishes! If you get a blemish, Murad Spot Treatment is excellent. Find it at Sephora or Ulta.
• Get as much rest as possible.
• If you’re getting a spray tan, do so at least 2-3 days prior with a trusted spray-tan artist. DO NOT TRY SOMEONE NEW FOR THE FIRST TIME. I recommend doing a trial run with your tanning salon a month or two before the wedding to make sure they don’t turn you into a Cheeto.
• Mani/Pedi!
• Massage…a totally worthy splurge.
• Make sure you have all your hair accessories ready if they’re part of your look (bling/clips/extensions/veil/floral hair pieces, etc.)
THE NIGHT BEFORE THE WEDDING
• Get a blowout! This is absolutely ideal for styling your hair the next day.
• If a blowout isn’t possible, clean & blow-dry your hair with mousse concentrating it at the roots of the hair. I love Living Proof Full Mousse.
If you are a curly hair client, either diffuse your hair or air dry and use your regular curl products (gel, mousse, light styling cream). NO heavy oils/creams if you’re wanting heat on your curls to refine them, they will be too greasy.
• Drink water
• Rest if you can…melatonin gummies are everything. I use Olly brand and love them.
• Hang your veil to make steaming easier the next day, lay out hair accessories
• Do NOT use products that contain glycolic, AHA, BHA, or retinols anywhere on your face or eye area. They will cause your skin to peel and can affect the makeup application negatively on the wedding day. Depuffing eyepatches are ok. I love Skyn Iceland patches. You can find them at Ulta.
• If you spot a new blemish, leave it alone and don’t pick creating a scab. Blemishes aren’t invited to your wedding, and I will cover them up like a pro (which I am!), or spray some Windex on it ( I really hope you understand that reference…I’m so old…).
WEDDING DAY! IT’S HERE!
• For makeup clients, arrive with a clean & lightly moisturized face. If your skin is dry/oily the artists have additional skincare to balance.
• Do NOT use eye patches that have retinol/glycolic/AHA/BHA. Your concealor will be a mess.
• For hair clients, arrive with clean, COMPLETELY DRY hair.
If your hair is wet and you are not scheduled for a blowout, you will be asked to go dry your own hair to keep the schedule on time. If you must have it professionally dried, pending there is time allowed, you will incur an additional $50 fee.
If your hair is too greasy, you may be asked to go and wash your hair. Overly greasy hair cannot be revived by dry-shampoo, and your artist is a stylist, not a magician (although sometimes we do feel like one). Greasy hair will not curl, hold a style, or do anything remotely glamorous. Please have clean hair, and allow the stylist to add the texture. Thank you so much!
• Have an inspiration image of hair or makeup for your artist. Understand this is a jumping off point, and the artist will use their expertise to create a look that is tailored to you and your unique features.
• Often times during hair or makeup, a client catches a peek of themselves looking like a hot mess. Beauty happens in stages, and sometimes things need to get messy before they get gorgeous! Allow the artist to finish before you make any final judgement. Know they would NEVER let you leave looking a fright, as your head is literally their calling card. Know you will look fierce.
• Your artist will check in with you periodically to make sure they’re on the right track—don’t be afraid to give your honest opinion! Your artist is there to make you happy and wants to ensure you feel amazing.
• If you’re not sure what you want for your hair or makeup, that’s ok! Share with the artist your overall vibe/aesthetic and they will go from there.
• Remember any hair accessories for your appointment.
• If you have any allergies to makeup and must use specific products, please bring them for the artist to apply.
